I've changed my mind about the Second Amendment

Op is right on this. There is no good reason to disarm felons. Their time in prison was served, they have successfully been rehabbed and paid their debt for their crimes. If not, why the f are they out walking among us??

I guarantee you that almost everyone posting on odt has at some point, done something that is considered a felony... Even if you don't know it. The only difference is, you were not caught.

Disagree completely with your post, vast majority of felons go back to prison, so how can you say they have been rehabbed? Successful rehabilitation means they don't commit crimes and they do contribute to society.
As far as paying their debt for the crimes they were committed for, that's all over the place. Some serve the full boat, many do not.
Many are released early due to overcrowding, Atlanta and or Fulton county was so overcrowded the feds got involved in running the jail.

Lastly, your thought that we are all criminals that just haven't been caught yet is undeserved. Most people work hard, pay their taxes, follow the laws.

So we allow a corrupt and ineffective prison system to eliminate basic rights we enjoy as Americans? Interesting.
Recidivism is a reason to take away the right to bear arms for all felons then?
Don't criminals ignore the law anyway? Why disarm those that get out of prison, follow the law, and make a life for themselves?

The whole "criminals ignore the law so let's just not make a law" argument is weak for this situation yet you keep regurgitating it. As for the rest, you should look up the recidivism rate for violent/sexual crime. It's ridiculously high. Statistically speaking, it's safe to say that not a single person convicted of a violent/sexual felony deserves any type of benefit of the doubt here. They aren't rehabbed, they haven't paid their debt and the only reason they are released is due to weak punishments, prison overcrowding, and cost considerations.

Although, since you're only saying they should get their guns back upon release and not before, how about giving some reasoning for your arbitrary line in the sand? What changes in a person from a monday when they are in prison to the tuesday they get released?

That is exactly the point of my post... If they have not been rehabbed, then why are we ok with releasing them. If you read the sentence after the one that was bolded, I conclude that point. It's important to READ the whole post before jumping the gun, it's all about context.

My issue is not the ex-felons having guns... It is the fact that dangerous ex-felons are being released out of prison to commit additional violent crimes. That is my issue, and quite frankly it's everyone else's issue as well, whether they choose to accept it or not.
