Wow! Don't know these people but I'll be saying a prayer for them. I guess I've been bitten by so many fire ants over the years I didn't know this was even a possibility.

I have a friend who wears long pants and boots and even white gloves so she can see ants if they get on her. From what I gather over the past few years she has become highly allergic to them. The worst part is she is very active and has horses and other similar interest.

Years ago I stepped in a fire ant mound. Foot swelled up, even though I was filling the dogs water bowl and had the hose in my hand; rinsed it as soon as I felt it.
Had to get a cortisone shot.
Foot looked about like this.
