I would go just a little further south to St Augustine. Cool little town, lots of history and nice beaches.

We went through downtown Jacksonville a few years ago. Never saw so many homeless people in one area like that. It was bad!

Living in Denver desensitized us to the plight of the "unhoused"....

I was in Denver two years ago. Yes we saw homeless, bunch of pride flags on vehicles and dispensaries on every street. And a lot more pride flags. We watched some good softball and went rafting, so that was fun. The rest not so much.

Haven't been since the '90s....Worth a visit or nah?

We ain't been there since about 2017. But at that time I decided not to go back. Like I tell most people about Jacksonville, just picture Atlanta but with palm trees. That's Jacksonville.
Yulee and Fernandina are fine.

Overbuilt with maddening traffic. Throw in lots of crime and degenerate pavement crawlers... what's not to like?

Jacksonville Beach is great, had an awesome time last July with my wife and son. Didn't go into Jacksonville though

Took my girls to the zoo last time I went. I second st Augustine. Check their amphitheater schedule out. They always have somebody good playing. They have a great little music festival too. Not sure when.
