Generally, if the dog was bit in the front half of it's body, it'll be okay. Growing up on a 30 acre rand in Texas, we had to treat lots of snake bites for dogs. Usually, they swell up, and are sore, but get better.

I hope so when I put the dog in her SUV he seemed ok but it had only been 5 mins since the bite

I'm normally a tree hugger when it comes to killing snakes. But I have 2 kids and 4 dogs. Well done!
Yesterday I caught a baby King Snake in my yard. I put it back after showing the kids. Maybe someday it will l eat a venomous snake.

I killed a good size rattler two weeks ago in my neighbors yard. I live in town and wasnt sure the legalities of shooting even though the mayor was the one who brought the snake to my attention. I think I scared him when he asked if I had a gun and suddenly produced a Glock 17 from a tshirt. I beat the snake to death with a stick but completely had my mind made up if it came down to me getting bit or discharging a firearm in the city or letting a rattle snake go under my friends daughters house I was willing to pay my fine.
