I am thinking about purchasing a Kimber Ultra Carry Plus 45 and the best price I have found is $1457.00. A lot of money for a gun but its what I want. I was wondering what you guys thought. Is the Kimber worth all that money????

No! Plenty of other great options out there for $1,500 than a Kimber. I have had a few, and just recently purchased one for my dad for his birthday(he wanted one), and they are overpriced for what you get. The fit is sloppy, the KimPro finish sucks, and 3" 1911's are known for being unreliable. If I had $1,500 to spend on a 1911 it would either be a Dan Wesson, or I would buy a Springer and send it to SACS for some custom work. JMHO.

I own a Kimber Custom II , TLE II and a Pro Carry II and all 3 have been near flawless. I had an Ultra Carry II and it ran fine but the 3" 1911 was not for me. I believe the Kimbers that are under $1,000.00 are great buys for what you get but for $1,500.00 I would look at Dan Wesson or put a little with it and get a Les Baer. That said I do love the 3 Kimbers I have. But I also love the 2 Springfield 1911's and my Les Baer. I love all 1911's I guess.

Not At all...way over priced for what you are getting. You could get two Springfields for that price. Avoid Kimber unless you like paying for back cover adds on magazines.

What got me about Kimber is their customer service. I had a TLE II that had issues, when I contacted them they gave me a bunch of BS and told me that if I wanted them to look at it I could ship it to them and pay return shipping as well. I ended up taking it to a local gunsmith and had it fixed before I sold it. They are ok guns but at $1,500 you could get something much better.

A LOT of money for a 3" 1911. Heard a lot of mixed reviews on Kimber and their customer service, if it is ever needed. Like the other guys said, Springfield or Les Baer or Wesson. JMO. It is after all, you money. Good luck!

You took the words right out of my mouth. DW FTW!

Buy a Glock 21 and spend the other thousand on ammo.
But if you must carry a single stack 1911, I'd look into a Springfield.

I have owned several Kimbers. I own one now. Never had a problem with any, but others have. That being said, there maybe other choice out there for the money. Unless you really want a Kimber. I do think Kimber makes a very good handgun, but just my opinion based on my experience.
