I sharpen my own. Being a carver and needing really sharp tools I had to learn how to sharpen knives. I can get them scarey sharp now.

I carry a little pocket knife at work. Don't need a big one cause that's what the .45 is for.

Spyderco Endura or Native. Never without one or the other. Also keep a leatherman with me everywhere except when dressed in Dockers or nicer.

Speaking of this, have any of you guys taken your pocket knives to a sharpener? I need a Kershaw that needs to be sharpened and I will probably mess it up if I do it.

Get a Spyderco Sharpmaker. Watch the DVD that comes with it. Very easy.

I carry no fewer than 5 knives daily. From a Kabar TDI to a bladed multi-tool and each with specific job function. A knife intended for personal defense should never be dulled peeling fruit or opening boxes.

If I have my pants on I have a Gerber model 500 in the fromt pocket. I've carried a pocket knife since I wuz a kid growing up in the Tennessee mountains.
I've got a buddy that's a riflesmith that sharpens my knife for me. He does it with a buffing wheel and jeweler's rouge.
