Don't forget not my boat and I wasn't in charge of the boat... And my dad was the one having the words with him... All I told him was to please cool the mouth off... I was standing in the floor behind my dad who was running the trolling motor a foot and a half below him.. I didn't aggress anyone... Imagine trolling towards a dock dads on front running the trolling motor and I am behind him and my kids are all the way in that back 19 feet from my dad... I wasn't protecting my dad I was in between my kids and the drunk... my dad happened to be the one wanting to fight not me..... The only way I could have got away would have been to swim and leave the kids... thats not an option...
OK, I may have missed this part, and am not going to go back and check right now, but I have a better understanding of who was where in the boat, and more importantly, who was controlling everyone's actions.
The smart thing would have been to tell your dad to just turn around and go, and let it be, before he involves your grandkids in something that might turn ugly. THAT BEING SAID....
I can imagine me trying to tell my 75 year old dad, to stop doing what he was doing if somebody was being an A** in front of his #1 granddaughter!!!!!
I understand why you chose the actions you did, and am glad it worked out. Try to tell dad to cool off and not get in trouble when his grandkids are around....good luck with that!!!
Thanks for the conversation and debate...good to talk to you.
Jerry
