LaserMax Guide Rods. Opinions please

I have a sig p229r in .40 as my bedside gun. It used to have crimson trace laser grips but I sold those b/c the grips were too bulky for my hands so they were replaced with e2 grips. What do you guys think about the lasermax guide rods as a replacement? My uncles got one in a g27 but I haven't shot it yet and that still won't tell me how they will stand over time. Opinions please.

They're cool, but for the price get a full weapon light.

Too pricey. If it's a bedside gun why not just a Crimson Trace laser?

I have one in my G23, but only because I got a ridiculous deal from a co-worker when the Gen 4 Glocks came out, and he found out the old lasermax wouldn't work in them. They are pretty cool.

Yeah I was planing on some sort of light so I guess for the money a laser/light combo would be a better choice. Just saw a used lasermax for a decent price so I figured I'd ask opinions.
