A 19 year old can't buy a hand gun, but can own one.

A 19 year old GA resident can purchase a handgun in a private sale.

pretty easy to understand, over the age of 18 you are allowed to own a hand gun. you can also legally sell a handgun to any member over the age of 18.

An 18, 19, or 20 year old can legally buy/sell/trade firearms including handguns in private transactions.

They can not purchase from an FFL, and there is limitations on where they can carry. But there's no law that says they can't buy/sell/or trade handguns in the state of GA in private transactions with other residents of the states.

There was recently a thread covering this, the question comes up all the time.

Underage gun sales

So, I was contacted last night about a Glock I have up listed for sale. The guy wanted to know if I would privately sell to him being 19. I reported it to the admins and they said that private sells are fine in the state of Georgia even at 18 in Georgia for a hand gun? Is that right? Idk, about...

Interesting fact: you can get a concealed carry permit in Georgia under the age of 21 if you are currently serving in the United States military. Several of the kids in my unit have done so.
