Legal, Small .12g Shotgun

The Shockwave or Tac14 is most likely going to be the way to go.
Here is my ghetto tactical project from about a year ago. I always wanted to do this type of project. I wanted to cut down an older field grade shotgun and make it look like what a tactical pump gun would have looked like in the 70s or early 80s back before such guns and tactical accessories existed. You know back when it was just you your shotgun and a hacksaw. I was glad to find this old Smith model 1000P with the vent rib barrel. That adds to the retro look. Aside from cutting and smoothing out the barrel I added a Choate 2 round extension. Cut and reshaped the stock to a bird head style grip and called it done . It's not a short as you can legally get. It's about 31" OAL with an 18.5" barrel. But I dig it.

Changing out the factory installed pistol grip on either the Shockwave or the Tac would cause them to become either an AOW or an SBS (can’t remember which one and not able to look up at the moment). Either one is not an NFA item as sold stock due to overall length. Modifying will change the configuration and possibly make an NFA weapon.

There are many good shotguns on the market with stock and 18 in. barrel to not be NFA. You should give them a look.

Thanks, for that information. I just bought the Tac-14 today. I love it. But will keep it as is and not modify it.

I wouldn6turn down the Tac14 at the right price but I like the Shockwave Mossberg better. The Tac14 has Magpul furniture which is just meh... I like the for end on the Mossberg with the nylon strap over the forearm . Plus I prefer the slide release button position on Mossbergs a lot better than the 870.

Yeah, I checked out both shotguns today, but I got the Tac-14 and ammo for a great price here on ODT.

My shotgun is an AOW , very short 3 shot useless backpack scattergun . The Knox pistol grip makes it tolerable . I won’t shoot without it . It is handy as an anti carjack item . Most days it sits in a backpack hidden away: That’s where mine lives .

That's SO cool! BTW if you need any grown dependants/beneficiaries I'm available. :becky:

Good choice, those seem to be around pretty reasonably these days.

One thing you should check into is the strap that can be added to the forend so you don't accidently get your hand in front of the muzzle. It's only a few bucks and is easy to put on. Much better than depending on a small plastic ridge to keep all your fingers.

The other thing I found rally handy with my Shockwave was adding a pict rail on the top and putting a laser on it. Up close it's about a foot higher than the impact point, but for longer distance you can get it pretty close. Although these guns are surprisingly easy to aim and hit with.

Great Advice and thanks for the website, I just ordered it. Be here Thursday.

No problem at all. These are actually great little shotguns and a lot easier to shoot well than you would think.
