Nobody recognizes the
Nintendo DUCK HUNT gun from 1985?
(Officially called the NES Zapper).

It was the first "gun" that so many Generation X'ers used.
Both for their first taste of hunting migratory waterfowl, and also their first offense of "attempted animal cruelty" when they aimed at that snickering, annoying dog (only to find that the computer programmers in Japan who invented this game would not allow you to shoot the dog!)
 
Hints:

It's pretty new.

It's expen$ive.

The standard chambering is for a bottlenecked high velocity round,
although conversion kits are available to let it shoot more popular straight-walled pistol cartridges.
