870- factory setup and stays close at night
Oh hell yeah! I'm not a Remington guy but a factory 870 over folder is always cool.
But it has a 28" bbl, not a 36" bbl like a true Goose Gun.
And it's loaded with low-dram #9 birdshot shells.
WHY?
Because this gun is for "defending" my home from varmints and pests and nuisance critters that might be positioned in my yard in such a location that only 150 yards behind them is a neighbor's house.
So, I want a gun with limited range.
And, the long barrel makes it quieter to shoot.
(For home defense against humans, I've got my daily carry pistol out & ready, and a .223 battle carbine handy too.)
Put this together from spare parts and loose change. Started life as a 870 super mag turkey gun. Slimmed it down to 19.25" barrel, and a few changes in the guts such as getting rid of the mim extractor, plastic follower, and all the factory springs. It actually patterns 00buck way better than I expected. It's the "bump in the night" bedside piece. Both my wife and daughter are pretty proficient with it as well.
