**Lets Talk Zero Turn Mowers**

Take a look at the Snapper Pro zero turns. I had a Snapper 42" version and it was pretty good. Separate pumps that were replaceable and enough power to cut field grass. I used it on my yard before selling it to a buddy on the backside of the neighborhood who has a larger yard. The back 1/2 of his yard is field grass and the front is Bermuda that he keeps short. It give a good cut on both.

This one would be right in your price range:

Got a cub cadet 50" and had it for 10 years. Mow 2.5 acres. Not a problem as of yet. Change the oil and filter each season and keep stabil in the gas. It just like a Timex. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Bought it used off of Craigslist for $1300 (1 year old).

Your price range will limit you to Cub Cadet and Toro zero turns with stamped decks. But if you want a scag, exmark, gravely etc you will need to go to the bank and get a loan

Lots of good advice in here that i agree with.
Your original price range dictates residential type...not the end of the world but you may have issues...i sell cub cadets around $2500 or so that would suit you fine if you cut often and kept it maintained. I also sell exmark and scag and their entry level commercials, which i would suggest to you, start at $5000 or so. Much better machines, and if cared for right, could last 15-20 years or so....plus you save time on every cut. I always tell my customers "dont try to go drag racing in a vw". You could always look at used also and find a good unit around $3000 or more with low hours. We use sheffield financing at 0% for 2 years for homeowners with good credit of course. Hope this helps.

Have a 66" cut deck Hustler that was used commercially for some time, and is still great. Probably 8-10 years old by now. Also had a Bobcat 60" that was used for a long time and never had problems.

^^with that said you have bout talked me into getting a residential . It will only be 2.5 acres and smooth yard
Toro makes some very good residential mowers in a zero turn style for around $3500. The closer we get to the end of the growing season, the lower the price will get. Never buy a mower while its still growing season unless you want to pay full price. Good luck to you.

I've had a Dixon for years, but they went out of business I was told. I have been tempted to try out a Hustler. They seem pretty solid from what research I have done. I have mowed on Kubota's and John Deere both were very very nice, but commercial grade too much $$$!!

My John Deere was over your budget and is the biggest piece of crap with green paint. Not put together right by the dealer . Warranty service is slow . I ended up fixing the intial problems myself . It is dependable to break a part a year every year used . The engine and trans are solid but they are not John Deere made parts
