Me and dad headed up to Pigeon Forge for the 40th anniversary of the 79 Lil Red and the 1st ever Owners club meeting. About 60 people showed and 19 trucks total. They came from Texas, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, and Florida. Pretty cool event. Dad was the only one that bought his new in 79. Some were near mint, some low miles, a few customs, and one diesel conversion. It was a blast!

They actually made these kids trucks. This Lil Red came down from New York. It was immaculate!

My father had the plain black version for years. Bought it new at Century Dodge in Macon in 78. It didn't have the smoke stacks or wood paneling . It did have the goals pinstriping. I'll never forget he was gonna get the red one with all the custom touches but it was a 4 speed and my stepmother couldn't shift gears. So he got the black one with NO A/C.

That would be a Warlock which was a dealer option. They are cool too!

Those were (are) nice looking trucks.
I've never seen one in black before. Was that an option, or was it custom painted?
It was a dealer option. The Lil Reds were VIN numbered with a code. The Warlocks and Midnights were harder for the records to show since it wasn’t produced that way.
