Let's just say he's house trained VERY well, judging by his retention. After that he and I walked the yard a few times. He was responsive to the leash and in a minute I was walking him with the leash draped around one finger. Power steering fo sho. Next we walked one length and then jogged back...he was right there with me. Oh the pace wasn't perfect but we had just met....he hadn't had a chance to train me right yet. Was with him for close to 45 minutes and never heard his voice once. He is quiet, dignified and companionable. I fell in love with him. She's three months old. Her and two siblings got dropped off yesterday. She's fitting in with my other dog and likes all the kids. I had to put down my dog of 11 years a couple months ago and I've been looking for a new dog for one day. She's close to full blooded, not that it matters. After being home with her for 7 hours I can't believe someone would dump her at the pound.
Grats.
Wife and I finally decided on getting a dog so we stopped in at the shelter yesterday. Walked the row a few times meeting the eagers and not so muchs, then spotted a beautiful red husky. Stopped and put my hand to the gate so he could sniff but he wasn't overly enthusiastic. Stuck a finger through and gave him a scratch on the neck and he slowly leaned into it. Spent 5 minutes getting comfortable with each other than talked to the trustee on hand and we took him out for a walk in the enclosed yard. As soon as we hit the outside he hit the bushes ...ALL of them, then headed for a corner for a more solid contemplation of the great outdoors.Let's just say he's house trained VERY well, judging by his retention. Went back in to adopt him and got the run around... "A guy saw him on our website and I'm holding him for that guy". And we are sending him out on the "Mobil Unit" tomorrow but if he's still here Monday". Well, I left with them giving me a promise to call me Monday if he is still there but the more I thought about it the madder I've gotten. After all, I was RIGHT THERE and ready to take him home..cash, check and credit cards all in hand. So this morning I called in before they even opened and they tell me he is gone.
Lagrange Animal shelter. Sure seems to me like those stories you hear about WalMart employees setting the 22's back for the buddies. I'm probably just wrong and too pissed off to care but dammit.
