Looking for any info on this old L C Smith side by side 12 ga. Any idea about a manufacturer date? In hindsight, we should have taken pics with a more manly background that a pink comforter in his guest bedroom...

Very nice shotgun to have. Quite collectable and generally considered one of the primary makers of high end shotguns during the "golden age" of side by sides which was the turn of the century up to WW2. It could have been manufactured by any of three companies that owned the name which would obviously affect the value. I think Marlin was the last owner of the name and ended production around 1971-2ish. So it is at least 48 to 50 years old but I think older due to the faded bluing. The LC Smith Collectors Association should be able to date it by the serial number. I have a relative that has a very nice one from the 60's and it's worth north of a grand. Excellent firearm right there. If I had money to risk I would make an offer site unseen on it. More knowledgeable folks than me will probably chime in later. Here's the link to the collectors association website http://lcsmith.org/

LC Smith’s are true side locks. This gun was most likely made around the early 40’s based on the serial number. This one is a featherweight field grade (easily determined from the roll stamp on the barrel and the markings on the water table). True collectors would pass due to condition (Field grades were common and this one has little to no case coloring left and the barrel bluing has thinned in places). If it locks up tight and is on face, which it appears to be, it will make a wonderful shooter for someone who wishes to use it. Have a good Smith who deals with old doubles check it over and check wall thickness of the barrels. If things check out, find some low pressure shells (RST makes great ones as well as Polywad in Roberta, GA) and go hunting with it! As to price, many factors come into play. Does it have ejectors, barrel length, condition, original chokes or have they been opened, etc. For a 12ga like this without holding it in hand, somewhere between $750-$900 is probably reasonable. Note: the wood looks original and if so, it is old. If you plan to shoot it ( I would use the heck out of it!) be sure to check the cheek panels where the lock plates meet up with the wood. Elsies have a tendency to crack or split there. Another good reason to use low pressure shells. Very nice old SxS, enjoy!
