Looking for our retirement hame area.

When I was in Atlanta, looking to retire, I had Ga mountains in mind. Then, quality and closeness of medical care for me and the wife became more important.
Ended up back on the coast, 'bout halfway between two cites with quality hospitals. Got lucky and found some good local specialists, and the local hospital has worked for most problems.
And I'm back on an island like the one on which I was born. Just 80 miles farther South.

Didn't retire, but jumped ship when the going was good in '21 to the N. GA mountains. Hospital in Demorest was bought out by NE GA system and they are getting it on track. Until then, the hospital system in Gainesville, about 40 min. away works perfect. You have lots of people retiring in the Lake Burton area which is far from everywhere, yet there they go.

I can attest to that. Here in Virginia you never see a real doctor. There is about 12 or so Nurse practitioners that work under one doctor. It is the worst health care system I have ever seen. I know you don't want to move this far north but just check out the health care system very carefully. I have just now got my crap in order and I have been here for 6 years. It's the biggest cluster ©×÷€ I have ever witnessed! That's not an exaggeration!
Sounds like the VA.

Blairsville has a decent hospital

But any
Specialist you’re going to
Gainesville or Atlanta

Some specialists visit blairsville
One day a week

Friend of mine has lived there all his life and he’s got
Some heart problems and his heart doc sees patients in blairsville one day a week
