I have a question to any prospective experts/enthusiasts on Finn Mosins. I recently added one to my collection and when researching it found that its marked "D" which supposedly means its chambered for the Finnish D166 cartridge. The riflle is a 1944 that was rearsenalled (I think) in the 60's.

My question.. well questions are:
1. How common is it to find rifles chambered for the D166?
2. Is it possible that it has since been re-chambered to 762x54 and if so what mark should i look for?
3. Should I park the thing on my wall or shoot 762x54 through it?

You can shoot both the finn and the russian surplus through it. It isn't uncommon, and some Finn rifles had the chamber modified without stamping the "D" om the barrel.

Edit: i own at least one of every Finn mosin made and i've shot surplus Russian, Bulgarian, Czech, and modern ammo in all of them. Some are "D" marked, others are not. No issues at all......
