I have been told, If you leave the spring compressed it does not hurt it. Its the up and down that weakens it. (load and unload)

not sure i am following this thread. are you talking about ALL MAGS??? i keep back up mags loaded for my defensive weapons, thats it. i dont even know how many mags i have in my house ...80 - 100. Glock, 1911, AR etc. I definitely do not keep all of them loaded.

Loaded. Don't want to have to be fumbling with them when the zombie hoards show up.
I don't want to be loading mags in a crisis situation. Even when I'm comfy at home, I keep a spare mag within reach for the pistol by my side. Who knows when there will be a mag-related malf?
I said loaded, but not every mag I own stays loaded. I keep a couple loaded for the rifle and a few pistol mags full.
Typing that makes me wonder if I have enough ammo to load every mag to capacity...

Pretty much every mag I own is loaded. The only ones that I don't have loaded is some for my .22's and some AR mags. I have way to many AR mags to need all of them loaded.
Every mag I have stays loaded. If I use them, I reload when I get home.
