Mak 90 furniture

You have to take the stock off to see. Some are straight cuts at the back like normal AK's and others have a slant cut. The theory I've read on that is they were gonna be underfolders before the '89 import ban came.

If you have a straight cut then regular AK furniture should work(that is regular Chinese furniture, Chicom receivers are a bit thicker than others), slant cut's a bit tougher. I would normally have said Ironwood Designs but they're closed up now. I had a milled MAK 90 a while ago with a slant cut, had a furniture set from Ironwood on it that was sweet.

We have slant milled and stamped mak-90 to test fit on. All you should have to do it pound it on and sink your screws . Full sets of furniture will probably be made out of hickory. If you have a darker polytech brown we may do the stock in white oak . Comes with NON trapdoor, smooth or ribbed...

They had different receivers with a knock out(kind of like an electrical panel) you could remove to install the UF stock.

The Mac90 stocks are different as the receiver thickness is different from other ak’s and will require fitment but by that I mean sanding

The outside width of most-all AK receivers are all the same, regardless of milled or stamped receiver thickness.. it’s the inside dimensions that change depending on types of receivers.

That said, most Mak-90 thumbhole stocks are wider where the back of the receiver is than most AK stocks in order to cradle (or cup) the rear receiver rather than inserted into the receiver. The stocks are held secure by the pistol-grip T-nut and bolt and the 2 top tang screws.

Then, there are at-least 2 varieties of these cradle (or cup) thumbhole stocks, one specific for the slant-cut Norinco receivers and the other for the standard norinco/polytech receiver.

So short answer, yes most “standard receiver” Mak-90 thumbhole stocks can be easily mounted to most AKM’s although the non-Chinese AKM’s 2 tang holes might not be concentric with the Mak-90‘s original holes.. so would need to cram in and glue a wood golf T or some tooth picks and then re-drill new tang holes.

In my honest opinion the thumbhole stocks are actually very comfortable to shoot and are very accommodating for an American cheek weld vs the original/European stocks which are typically have a shorter length of pull
