Manual transmission. Need to learn ASAP

If I had one I would do it in a second. I have had to teach a few people...when I learned I had already experienced motorcycles so transition was very easy...one hour you'll be fine...

It's easy man, if I can master it at 14, you can in an hour. Once the principal of the thing gets to you it does not take but a second to adapt to any manual. Unless of course, it's an 18 wheeler, then you B in trouble..

It just amazes me that everyone can't drive a stick, of course I'm older than dirt and learned in a 62 Falcon with three on the tree. I'd help but I'm 4 hours from you...

I have a Ford Ranger that I would be willing to let you learn on. I have a VW TDI as well but that is too easy so I won't offer that (plus it is more expensive to fix if you break it). The Ranger is getting tired and would be good to learn with. Once you can drive it you can drive anything.

I learned to drive stick in an 86' Dodge Ram with a slant six that was geared way to high.

Learned on an old ford ranger myself. The depression on the clutch was about 30000 feet long but damn if there isnt a manual vehicle that I can't drive now....

You just need to go around to the local car dealerships and test drive manual transmissions until you get the hang of it.

Please post the salesman's reaction during the first test drive!

Not an ethical way to do this but you could go test drive some cars/trucks with manual transmissions. Salesman would probably teach you to drive it to make a sale.

Note to self - read all the posts in the thread before repeating someone elses advice :)

i can drive one technically but in no way am i proficient at it

its easy to pick up though, i got the basics down after an hour in the car and a few stalled attempts
