MAS 49/56 in 308

Just got it off Gunbroker and picked it up from my FFL.

Can't wait to shoot it, really pumped it is not in 7.5 French so I don't have to add another caliber.

Anyone out there have one?

I like the comment: The French MAS 49/56 is perhaps one of the most underrated rifles of all time. It is brutally simple, accurate, reliable, and a joy to shoot. It functions via direct impingement in its true form, unlike an AR, and field strips into just a few parts.

IO also traded into a MAS 36 in 308!

I have both the MAS36 and Mas 49/56 in the 7.5 French caliber....very cool guns. The 49/56 is very fun to shoot, compact and turns heads at the range. You will definitely enjoy them both!

Got the MAS 36 with a WTB on ODT. Traded an Ishapore 2A for it.

That's pretty awesome.
I always shied away from these rifles because I don't want to reload 7.5 French - didn't even consider .308 conversions.

One of my FFL's had (might still have) a 49/56 in 7.5. Wanted $518 last time I looked. Had 40 rounds of ammo but no magazine. I've thought about buying it a few times but it wouldn't really fit into my collection.

I think there are some high cap magazine conversions you can do on these similar to how MG13 mags will work with a Hakim. IIRC, you can use modified FAL mags.
