Whoever was in control of the ship was way out of position to pass under the bridge for whatever reason. I’m sure we’ll learn more as the investigation unfolds. We need to pray for all involved in the recovery of this tragedy.They have said the captains on board worked that bay all the time. The Videos on youtube look like they were trying to correct themselves and had the port engine in reverse maybe? the port stack is pouring black smoke.
Well, sounds like there were using the local pilots I mentioned earlier in the thread afterall... which makes this all the more sus. Same thing happened in Tampa bay back in the early 80s, Cargo ship took out the bridge with pilot on board. I believe they decided he was drunk on duty. I may be remembering wrong. In this case in Baltimore it could easily have been caused by mechanical failure. Seems strange those sections aren't independently supported... when one went down, they were all doomed to fall, like a house of cards... Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time, I wouldn't want to be dealt that hand...
