Microtech Porn!?!?

Why does there have to always be some coke sucker who wants to promote and endorse some Chinese import junk ?

WTF is wrong with you stupid muther ****ers ??? Do you really support Chinese made products ???

you make me sick to my stomach !!!!!!!

Fan boy :behindsofa:

Comes on Microtech thread.

Plays the fanboy card.

Bestows the virtues of clones.

Dude. Come on.

I am a fan of KNIVES. Many brands. I like Microtech... I have two new Ultratechs and a Socom Elite... I will be buying my wife a UTX85 soon... I also have Heretics and other name brands, quality stuff...

However, I also like a good deal. Not that a Vespa is "cheap"... they are still $140-$220... so they cost as much as a Spyderco and many Benchmades... But a $150 Combat Troodon copy is more appealing to me than a $500 Microtech version.

As you post from your Chinese iPhone.... Driving a car that 40% of the parts in it come from China, Watching your TV that half the internals came from China, taking medicine that half the ingredients came from China... etc...

if you are gonna get all uppity and talk the talk and thump your chest, you should probably do it far away from your glass house...

Here is the main problem with the fanboy... They get their ego and self worth by associating themselves with a brand name. Could be Apple, Harley, Chevy, Glock... or Microtech... They find a brand that they feel has the image that they themselves would like to have.

it's why the average Harley guy is a Wild Hawg, despite him seeing himself in his mind's eye, as Easy Rider...

When you attach your ego to a brand name because you want to inherit the image by proxy... you don't take well to any criticism of said brand. Because an attack on the brand, is now an attack on you and your sense of self worth. And a copy of the brand?

Heresy! Witch! Burn him!

Because on some subconscious level, you bought into the idea that you purchased your image and status... How dare someone else try to gain that same status, without paying their dues as you did???

Most of us like Microtechs... we own them, use them, collect them and paid the same money you did...

That doesn't mean that we don't like other brands, or have a place in our collections for clones... I like the CZ75. Great pistol, and all that... But I usually buy one of the Turkish clones... why? Similar performance, half the price. Goes bang.

I am not concerned with image and status and brand names... I prefer Ducati and Triumph for my bikes, but I have owned many Honda, Suzuki and Yamahas... Same with guns, and just about everything else...

Some guys are a FORD GUY... whatever... If you describe yourself by means of a brand name, you are just a poser.

Status isn't really status if anyone can walk in and buy it...

The problem most of us really have here are the clones. If you like someones product buy their product. Don't buy from someone that is trying to make financial gain from another companies product/design. Thats just bad business.

I buy both. In fact, it was buying the clones, due to price, that made me want to pony up and buy the "real deal"... Had I not started out with the clones and fallen in love with the designs, I likely would never have purchased a Microtech. Now, I have bought 7 of them in the past year.

And again, what of the CZ75 clones? I can understand not liking counterfeits... But if they are changing aspects of the designs, which Vespa does... and they put their own name on it and don't try to pass it off AS a Microtech...

On the topic of copying other's designs...

Wasn't the MT Cobra a ripoff of the Mikov Swordsman?

Knives date back thousands of years to the Bronze Age... It's nearly impossible to come up with something that hasn't been done before... Maybe new colors and new steels, but chances are it's been done before, to an extent... Every designer draws upon designs they have seen and liked over the years...

Who has time to worry about this stuff, or get emotional enough to start calling other members stupid mother***ers?

Grow up.

I get that you like knives, but you don’t seem to understand. There is no middle ground here when it comes to knock offs. We will never see your point. I’ve stood there at blade show and watched reps from China take pictures of newly released Microtechs so they could try to remake them. They came to my booth and did this. I finally had to tell them. Look, no more pictures. Even others that were around knew that’s what they were doing.
It’s very sad. And I will never have any thing good to say about the topic. I’m glad you have Microtechs and support the Orginal American based knife company. And I’m glad you want to continue to support them. But I’m here to tell you. Justification of knockoffs (of any brand)will never fly here. So check your feelings at the door and know. Those opinions will be met in full force here should they be expressed.
