My 1st and last ND Very nasty pics. I get to go back to work

Everyone makes mistakes. Hopefully you will recover a good amount of use in that hand, and THANK GOD you and your son weren't seriously hurt. As a parent I can't imagine the terror you went through worrying about your child. Take it easy, get some rest, and chalk it up to a lesson learned.

Thanks for sharing it BTW. Reminds me of a story from another forum. A gentleman wrapped up a day of shooting his 22lr pistol at dusk with dropping the mag and racking the slide a few times to eject the cartridge. During transit on the way home somehow something got jacked up inside of the slide. When he went to clean it he racked the slide and it slipped from his hand. The now internally bent slide hit the rim of a 22 cartridge that was still in the chamber as the extractor had failed. He ended up shooting himself in the foot. Even when you "know" it's unloaded it's best to keep it pointed in a safe direction. Stay safe everybody.

I'm sorry if I missed it in the thread (there are a ton of posts), but why would you put your hand in front of the barrel? I'm not saying that to be smart, I just want to know. I hope you recover quickly and know that you're doing some good with this thread. I've probably gotten a little too comfortable with guns and that picture is a glaring reminder to NEVER let your guard down. An incident like this is a good reminder!

It was a piss poor habit of laziness. I used my middle finger to depress the extractor to drop the rounds in my palm. Won't be doing this any more. A because my middle finger is gone B cause its stupid

Damn dude, you are famous!

Thank you for agreeing to share this to emphasize the importance of firearms safety. I was walking out of a local hardware store with my 3 year old son that I had stepped into to see if they had bullets and primers. When I was getting into my car I noticed that this kid was waiving a 22lr around outside and making machine gun noises to impress his friends. The muzzle was pointed at me. (I could see the objective lens on his scope clearly.) I yelled at him to put the muzzle in a safe direction immediately and he yelled back that he hadn't pointed it at me. I knew that the gun was unloaded because I had seen him take out the magazine and pull back on the charging handle moments earlier, but when he was pointing the firearm at me he was pointing a gun at an armed man. Thank goodness I knew he worked at the store (which sells firearms) and knew that the rifle was unloaded. Still it was such an egregious safety violation that if I see this young man again, I am going to try to get him to go to a firearms safety class that is taught by a friend of mine. I'm sorry about your injury, but I am impressed that you are willing to open up to your own injuries and help make this into a teaching moment for all of us. I've decided based upon your example to try to make this into a teaching moment for this young kid and not to try to embarrass him.

I have seen my story reposted all over reading the comments of some of the guys is scary. They have no clue. I hope this does not happen to them. If it did I would be there to support them as I know what it's like. This country desperately needs to get back to a sense of community and helping one another instead of putting each other down. It really is sad

Dang- I'm sorry to hear about the ND.

If you're looking for a silver lining, this is probably the best advertisement Tapatalk could have asked for.

And odt. This thread has had A ton of views. Never thought I would be all over the Web in two days. There are alot of people talking ****. I hope this doesn't happen to them. But with that sort of attitude it's bound to.

im so sorry dude I hope everything goes well, and I really apreciate you taking the time to post this so we can all refresh our safety measures, let us know if there is anything we can do for you
