.OK, potentially stupid question...does snake venom not affect dogs the way it affects humans? I'm pretty sure if I caught a cottonmouth bite to the shin, I couldn't sleep it off with some benadryl.

GOD made dogs to handle the venom. They don't get a pass, she was pitiful for a while, but they do survive. My oldest son's dog got bit by a copperhead a few years ago and we didn't think she was going to make it but she pulled through.
