Copperheads grow big up here
the Copperhead on the left is the largest I've ever seen at 5'9", I got mad when I skinned him; the skin broke at the anal cavity. To that skin add 6" for the tail & 3" for the head
the one in the middle is 41 inches
the skin on the right is a shed of a Rat Snake, the longest I've seen at 6' 9", it's very unique as it still has the tip of the tail and the eyes and complete mouth. I found it wrapped around the rungs of an extension ladder.

Member @Jbum got bit last year, I think it was a rattler, but IIRC the hospital bill was north of 100k...Save money, kill the venomous ones on sight, feed the non-venomous ones.

Don't get him alarmed, or back him in a corner.
I've had these snakes crawl up on while hunting. I would slowly reach out and pick them up and then just lay them back on the ground.

When I was a kid, I had one that was almost 7' long. I would feed him eggs right out of my hand.
