alright boys. I need a little help with an Helwan pistol I recently picked up. Getting values all over the place. Anyone out there know anything about these pistols; and, can help me with the value on it. Not intending on selling it but I would like to know what kind of value goes on it. I know it’s not a $2000 pistol but is a cool piece of history. It appears to have been fired a lot but, is in very good condition.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

That’s kinda what I was thinking. I picked it up relatively cheap. I just though it was cool. Got it off a Marine who brought it back from Afghanistan.

Originally branded as Helwan Brigadier. In recent years Maadi took It over. Either way it's made in Egypt and a copy of a Beretta 1951. They used to be bargain pistols in the 80s and 90s. I was just looking at them on Gunbroker last week and most of them were around $300.00. Not that they're worth that mind you. Just that it's what they seem to go for these days.
They're solid pistols with decent enough service reps. And like it's already been stated about $200.00 to $2 fitty in real dollars.

Also very similar to the Helwan (actually it's the same damn thing just different rollmarks and grips) is the Iraqi Tariq, much like the Helwan it was made in its home country on Beretta tooling.

The Tariqs are fairly prevalent and cheap ($200ish) in Canada but due to import regulations they are scarce here in the US and often command a premium. Last Tariq I saw was at a gun show. Had $800 on the sticker and it wasn't on his table very long before it sold.

is there any way to tell the difference? This one appears to have matching hand engraved serial matching numbers on the slide and frame. Like I say not intending to sell it just looking for a little more info on it. This one does not say made in Egypt any where on it although I know that doesn’t mean it wasn’t made there. It’s almost like it was repurposed at some point?
