I like the Acer Aspire One, 4gb RAM, 500GB hard, AMD dual core. Decent graphics. Currently its on sale at Costco, $350. I got one of them recently and it's been great.

Save yourself the trouble and get a nicer laptop, designed to be in harsh environments. Get a Toughbook. One of my buddies has ruined his second laptop out there. Finally got one that can handle sand and all that crap.
you may to think about the cdrom.....im in SW Asia now and internet isnt all that...d/l a game would take forever if possible! When I came over I got a Dell laptop, alot more than what you mentioned though $1500. I planned on playing counterstrike.....Have yet to play, with the wireless here, I cant get in
