Need help spotting a fake Marine.

I work with a guy just like that. He told us that he got the medal of honor in a secret ceremony, that he was stabbed in the side while being stationed in south america, that he was stationed at Guantanamo bay, and that he was a Sniper for the marines. He wont produce any evidence. No pictures or military id. He wears a purple heart pin on his hat at work and always wears marine shirts and stuff but all that stuff can be ordered off ebay.

We had the boss look up his info and all it said was "sniper" for previous employment. I just roll my eyes at his stories, I want to call him out from time to time but I just feel that if for some fluke reason I was wrong I'd feel like a jerk.

He also claims his dad beat him in the head with a bat when he was 7 and it gave him DOCUMENTED mental problems.
That I can beleive because it would explain a lot but if he had documented mental problems, would he still be able to join the military?

He could be a Marine and not be a super sniper.

I met a guy who was on VA disability. I have no doubt he served but he felt the need to embellish. He said he was a 88M assigned to "Delta Force" as a "sniper". (Army guys will know why this is funny)

If every story you ever heard about the military was true, we would have had no cooks, admin, or quartermasters.

The background does look like it could have been on pendleton . I got out in 97 and the uniform does look correct for about that time frame . Als the sleeping bag that he has was being issued when i got out in 97 it was the 3 layer bags with the black stuff sack . He is carrying a SAW that could also be period correct . Now i was a combat Eng and we had SAW gunners but not sure if a Sniper platoon would have been issued them

He said on his way to Germany? We have no bases in Germany. That's Army and Air Force. As far as the SAW, snipers were in STAY platoon and if not using a sniper rifle would of had an M-16.
