So this is my last semester of college and I'm taking an independent study course in entrepreneurship. As part of the course I have to create a business model and conduct a market research survey to help develop it. For this project I am working on a used car dealership that will specialize in ultra cheap cars to give people decent transportation without the burden of a car payment. I have come up with a market research questionnaire and I need to collect at least 15 responses to move on to the next part of the project. Work on it myself.

Yes, after I have thoroughly researched it, looked it over, and test driven it.

Most Definitely.

No problems that aren't normal for high mileage cars.

Mazda (Rotary ftw!)

13. Regarding used cars, how important is the condition of the body/paint?
Depends on the price. If they are asking considerably less than blue book, I don't expect perfection. If they are asking close to, or more than blue book, I expect it to be near perfect. Also, chips and scratches should reflect age/mileage.

See question 13.

15. What are some additional features that you might look for in an inexpensive used car?
Starts without trouble, no strange noises or smells during the test drive, that the seller is upfront about known issues (I've gone to look as a "rust free" car that had holes in the floorboards big enough to put your feet through)

16. Would you be interested in a used high-performance car?
Yes, but I would look it over more carefully for signs of abuse.

17. If you were interested in a used high-performance car, would you want one that had been modified for additional performance or would you rather have one that was still in stock form?
Depends on how it is priced. Yes, mods cost money and you would think they would add value, but they are also an indication that the car was probably driven hard. It also depends on the quality of the parts and install. A civic with a fart can and a home depot intake, no. An FD with quality parts and documentation from a reputable builder, sure.

18. If you were interested in a used high-performance car, would you be more interested in the cars appearance or its performance?
Performance.

19. Is there a particular brand or model of used high-performance car that you would prefer?
Third gen RX7.

20. What are some additional features that you might look for in a used high-performance car?
No automatics (and that includes flappy paddle bs).

Forget the survey. Henry Ford said that if had asked people what they wanted, they would have said "faster horses". Buy low, sell high. collect early and pay late...avoid government....success will come.
