I get torn on how long feel about educating anti gunners about how stupid "AR" bands are. When you show pictures of a ranch they say they're fine, no need to ban. But its essentially the same thing. Or when you show them a 223 bullet or a 308. Then say the 223 goes in "AR " while the wood riffled 308 is OK. If you can make them actually understand it then they'll just push harder for banning all pew pews

Err.. we tried to in 1812. We beat up on Montreal, and in turn they burned down Washington DC.

Come to think of it, maybe they were helping us out.

Anyway, this sucks for them. Let this be a lesson to us Americans how important the Second is. They have to fall back on arguments about hunting and sport shooting to justify firearms ownership there. Those are the only legal reasons to own a firearm in Canada.

Even worse, they've always had 'universal background checks' that run through the 'CFOs' office for each province. Well they are all shut down due to pandemic, so if you want to buy an AR before this went in (and a lot of people saw it coming), you couldn't.

It sounds like most people will be grandfathered from reading the actual rule published on the official website. Or at least have 2 years to try and figure out what to do. This is Canada after all... they won't kick down doors, they'll sent RCMP to knock and tell you politely that your license for certain firearms has been revoked, and wouldn't it be best if you just handed them over now.
