batoncolle batoncolle - Per Terms of Use (and already posted here) - "You also agree not to: circumvent, remove, alter, deactivate, degrade or thwart any of the content protections in the Netflix service"

Geography is part of the content protection. Intentional or not, you are circumventing the content protection and are actively advocating for it by starting this thread. That's pretty clear (to me at least).

Yes and contact them ask them specifically if using a VPN to connect is prohibited, and you get "it's not recommended". Of course when you connect via VPN, that's what happens. And there is an easy way to fix it, but it's not being done.

But hey it allows statists that want private contracts between companies to somehow become de-facto regulations on the public, to call people thieves so it's all good...

You are not advocating simply connecting via VPN. My computer is connected to multiple VPNs all day every day. What you are advocating is connecting via a proxy so it hides your computers location or shows your connection coming from another country.

Ok, I will put it in the simplest terms I can. Has the content provider been compensated for Netflix to offer their content in the United States? No. Are you bypassing geographic controls to obtain access to that content anyway? Yes. Are you stealing from Netflix? No. Are you stealing from the content provider? Yes.

What do you call it when someone takes something against the will of someone else without compensation?

Did you say, "Hey, when I use my VPN I can see EU content, is that ok?". If you had asked them that I think the answer would have been different. Sure, they can try to build in ways to not allow people to circumvent, but you admittedly are.

Can you explain how per the Terms of Use you are not circumventing? Because they said I can use a VPN is not the right answer.

I'll wait for the legal course to sort it out before I'll start running off at the mouth and calling people thieves. Especially when the legal course so far in Australia, the EU, and many other countries says it is in fact not a violation of copyright law.

Now this is the part where you'll say yet again "I'll let you continue your thread, and you're a thief". :thumb:

I did. It's not recommended.
