New CDC guidelines!!

Regardless, the other 99.8% shouldn't be punished. You can't trust any number put up anyway. People are bought and sold.

And you're still comparing apples to oranges.
I guess I just don't see wearing a mask as punishment. I don't see wearing a seatbelt as punishment either. I guess I just don't get the OP's post then, lol.

Comparing apples to oranges isn't necessarily a bad thing. I can admit that is the tricky thing about comparisons though. Something is always better or worse depending on what you compare it to.

I'll also admit that I don't wear a mask 100% of the time. I wear it more often than not when in public but it's situational. It's never been a problem to wear one though. Just seems like an easy neighborly thing to do.

Also, I'm totally cool with doing away with handshakes. I know most of you don't wash your hands after touching your junk. (i don't either)

When the government forces legislation in the name of safety, it's punishment. See my signature.

And it is bad when comparing apples to oranges. That's why that saying is a thing. A better comparison to covid would be the flu or some other relatable disease. 9/11 was caused by people, car accidents are caused by people.

Yeah, I get that in general about safety laws, but that really opens up a lot of stuff. Fact is that civilization wouldn't work without some safety related laws. It's a balancing act and there's lots of gray area.

Fair enough on the comparisons, point taken. Covid is much worse than the flu. It's 10x worse in Pickens as discussed above and worse than that in other places. I think that's enough reason to mask up when appropriate.

If you look at your contention in the context of recorded human history, the instances of 'safety related laws' are miniscule when compared to the totality of other human existence factors. Despite what some may choose to believe, there is merit in believing that not all government and control is good. This nascent belief that 'government is here to help' is naive.

Totally agree. Many laws created in the name of safety are downright evil. I just don't think mask mandates or vaccines fall in that category.

For the record, I don't wear a mask because of any mandate. My wife started sewing masks for family and friends a year ago when officials on both sides were still saying "nah, don't worry about wearing a mask". It's a respiratory virus, of course masks are going to help. They were just saying not to worry about it in the beginning because they knew there would be a shortage and they wanted them for hospital workers.

If you look at the size of a Covid Virus, it's about 0.3 microns. Most all masks used by the populace are useless against this.

I still don't believe your 10X contention for Pickens. Not gonna ever, frankly. You done drunk the KoolAid IMO...

It's arguable how effective they are but agreed that it's not awesome. It won't stop an individual virus cell, but it will stop the water that you're breathing out that the virus cell is in.

What they are good at is catching mass germ spreading. When you cough and sneeze, you let out a lot more junk. Masks greatly reduce that.

I'm not a gross ahole that is going to sneeze on something and just walk on. A lot of people are though. If my wearing a mask helps others be encouraged to wear a mask so I don't touch something that person sneezed on two hours ago, I think it's worthwhile.

Hey you used a stat. That stat is 10x higher (actually more) than flu stats. Ok that you don't believe individual stats, but we're talking orders of magnitude differences. I don't think the exact numbers matter so much when they get this high. I think there's plenty of evidence that covid is real and it's bad.

There isn't any more point in discussing this any further. We disagree and that's it. Bye...have a nice Covid scare day...
