No love for the .40

I like the .40. And all of the arguments about the 9mm being so improved with newer ammo advances well those same advances are applied to the .40 and .45 as well. The 9mm is definently a cheaper route to go for plinking.
It all boils down to personal choice. I like .40 and .45 and have sold off any 9mm I owned. I just didnt care for the round.

Not sure why so many folks get a .40 as their first real pistol caliber. Maybe the gun stores are pushing them over 9mm, who knows. I like the .40 in larger, heavier guns like my PT-100...

I think it's the fact that they're carried by so many LEO that the citizens think they are the only choice. So they rush out and buy whatever is good for the popo

I was one of those that bought a .40 as my first handgun, I have no idea why. I eventually got rid of it. I don't hate the caliber, but I don't exactly like it either. The .40 has harsh, snappy recoil that makes it difficult for me to get back on target quickly for follow up shots, and I have also found that for some reason I'm just not that accurate with a .40. I have a 9mm Glock 19 that I'm very accurate with, but for some reason I'm not that good with a G23.

Bottom line is I'm not bashing the .40, I'm just saying I prefer 9mm and .45.

I would also like to add that it's not as if the recoil hurts me, it doesn't, I just get too much muzzle flip with it and can't get back on target as fast as I would like. To each his own.

I did...why? because the popo's do! Seriously, I thought if they carry it, then it must be plenty adequate. Either way it got me into the pistol world, and an ODT addict!

I like my SIG .40, but my 1911 .45 is my favorite. 9mm just doesn't do it for me. And Tupperware guns (Glocks, etc.) just have a yucky feel to them. Just don't fit my hand.

I love my Glock 23 and would not trade it for anything. I am also more accurate with it compared to the 19. It really is my favorite gun to shoot and I take it to the range a few times a week.
