No Scammers

The best way to find out if it's a scam call their bluff. Tell them you have the money you'll pay full price and you'll come meet them right now even if they say they're in Alabama tell them you can get in the car and drive there immediately or set a date. If they clam up and don't say another word after that you know it's a scam. That's what happened to me when I found a great deal I told him I'd give him what he wanted and even drive out to meet him and pay face to face. Never heard another word from him.
Just did this. Rifle for sale in South Ga. Pm'd for info. Response was call me at the provided number. It was an out of state area code so I pm'd again saying I want to verify you are in Ga. He replies yes but that he's willing to ship. I write back no thanks, I prefer face to face deals and I am willing to drive to you After that... crickets! Never heard from him again. And yes it was a new member with goose eggs in his feedback and reaction.

I was born at night but not last night.
Would I be right in reporting this member? Never done it before.

Edit - Never mind. I just went to my PM's to check the number he provided to see if it matched any of the ones in this thread and I see that his account has been banned permanently! Great job, mods!

Yep, that's how I do every deal. Face to face

We try, it’s a job and a half. Sometimes I catch as many as eight in a day.
That was a high day, but not unusual to catch three everyday.

Most of them result from members reports. But people are so scammer shy we get a bunch of reports on legit, but new, inexperienced members as well.

Kinda frustrating at times, but keep the reports coming.

I guess its best if you make a deal and agree on a price tell the buyer to drive to you and make the exchange FTF. That is if they have little if no feedback to rely on. That should be the price of admission to use our classifieds. Earn that feedback through good old fashioned foot work. These days it's practically mandatory. If they want the item or sale then make them work for it. No scammer is going to put that much work into it. A real buyer or seller will go that extra mile to do business. It's practically the only rational way to do business with new members. Once they have earned it then they are good to go. To me lazy people ( like scammers ) won't lift a finger past taking your money.

Not everyone with an out of state number is a scam. I have one and I've also dealt with another member with an oos number

I used to be open to meet with new people got burned. Will only deal with 5 or more reviews. It sucks I was new once too but it’s to hot to be waiting outside on someone who isn’t going to show up xD

That's sumptin a scammer would say.:boink:
