I just got a call at 8:05pm from the NRA. After I informed the caller I was already a lifetime member, he said that he was calling with regards to a federal conceal carry bill that would allow for concealed carry with full reciprocity across state lines. He asked if I could give a 1 time emergency donation of $50 toward the cause. I told him I no longer give $ to solicitors over the phone, as I had someone a few years ago calling from the NRA that hit me up with a scam that emptied $1500 out of my bank account. I let him know that I would contact my elected representatives personally (as I do regularly). He said thank you and we concluded the conversation.

Does this sound legit, or like typical NRA behavior? Or a scam?

I get a fund raising call from the NRA about once a year. Not a life member, but paid a few years in advance. I re-up my membership once a year at an Eastman Gun Show to get a "free" admission, that tacks another year on my NRA membership, so I am a couple years paid in advance.
