Orionid Meteor Shower Lights Up the Sky — October 21–22!

Get ready for one of the most magical sky shows of the year! The Orionid Meteor Shower will peak on the nights of October 21 and 22, with up to 20 bright meteors per hour streaking across the heavens.

These meteors are tiny fragments from Halley’s Comet, burning up beautifully as they enter Earth’s atmosphere.

📅
Peak Nights: October 21–22
⏰
Best Viewing Time: Midnight to dawn

While the comet's closest distance to the Earth is happening right now, it will still be visible in the night sky --and even going higher above the horizon line and therefore with less atmospheric distortion--- through the end of the month.

Sunday 10/26 I might take a drive to farm country and park in front of a field where there are no trees to the west or northwest.
