I have personally seen a roadside fire being started by a cig. Just lucky I guess. Only burned a couple acres at most but required two trucks to show up and waste their freaking time and resources on what was obviously 100% preventable.

I had to stop one morning on my way to work to stomp out a fire. It was still dark outside, little windy and in the middle of nowhere. Only thing that could have started it was a cigarette or cigar. I smoke, but have a cup type ashtray that I keep in my console.

I was in slow rolling traffic on the interstate and beyond it when it finally got going. I saw the aftermath on the way back (at a much higher speed).

i'm just messin with ya.......when i lived in florida back in 98-99, they were ARRESTING people for throwing cigarettes out of the window. bad year for fires that year.

TX has been doing that for a long time. Not sure about the arrest(sometimes, depends on the attitude), but it was a 1500 dollar ticket if they spotted you.

"Odd" to me that people don't get the proper use for them.

On what earth does that usage make sense?

People that smoke at the red lights. You want to poison your lungs? Roll up the windows so I do not have to smell it.
People in pick up trucks with bed full of trash. People in cars throwing out their burger wrappers out the window. I am tired of picking up your crap off my lawn.

These folks are funny. You see them going doing the interstate with trash flyiing all over the place. Then you ask them "Why don't you throw that trash out." They answer "I probably will when it gets full." You ask "Never gets full does it?" They answer "Nope." You don't say?....
