We also brought our own lunch and I'm glad we did. OS did a great job getting the food trucks but when we walked out to go home I was not pleased with the aroma coming out of either one. Brown bag lunch for the win.
Yeah I'll try to get a couple more reasonable trucks next time, or try to do our own concessions so the prices can be reasonable. I bought lunch for two folks and it was $50. It was good but not that good.
I think the next one I will have a table, and have some redneck crap for sale. That way, I have access to the best deals before the overall (the ghetto folks… lol…) population comes in.![]()

We need to sell an "Early Access" pass next time that gets you in 30 minutes early 😂
Did you meet any "Joe Scruffy", off the street people who weren't there with a member as a guest? I met some non-members but they were nephews or sons, etc. of established members.
I didn't hear anything about Okuma admitting folks unconnected with ODT in any way. I thought they had to be a guest of a member.
Maybe I'm being a Pollyanna but I think it'd be a decent way to introducing folks to the ODT and maybe increase the site membership a bit.
I had a very nice, well dressed, well spoken, and decent couple come by and look at my wares.
The fella wanted my business card and I gave him my ODT name. They had no idea what I was talking about. They didn't even know what the ODT was. The husband said they just paid and came in. I got their business card. He installs pools and does yard construction. She's a realtor.
So, it was not a members only event. Or someone done did screwed up.
Prolly stay home if Okuma lets street people in the show
I only advertise the show on ODT, currently there is no outside advertising in an effort to limit it to ODT folks as much as we can. I turn down sponsorships because I don't want the event to get advertised in other locations (like a sponsors facebook/instagram page, etc.) I even ask the Civic Center to not put anything about it on their sign or website.
The first two years I tried to only do presale tickets but we had so many members come to the door and go "I didn't know it was only pre-sale, I drove from Savannah for this" or something like that, and I'm not going to just turn them away. (I did call each of them liars to their faces as I took their money and let them in
) This year we decided to just allow it and charge more at the door and I thought that would make more people purchase ahead of time, but a lot of folks seemed to prefer to just pay more at the door. 🤷♂️I think the next show will be done very similarly to this one.
I think my philosophy going forward is to do what I can to limit it to just our own members but if other people wander in then that's fine, it's just more people for our members to try and sell to anyway, and maybe they become members after seeing how much better it is at our events compared to other gun shows.
We're gonna try and get the next show presale up and running soon. Previous vendors should expect to hear from us within a week or two.
