That is precisely why I change my own oil. Nobody works on my car . . . except this one guy I know that you don't, lol.

WHen you consider that a manager makes part of his bonus based on "cost of goods" what makes you think this isn't being done on his orders?
When you see stuff like this call the news, not the company.
I'm very anal about what fluids go in my car/truck, those places buy the cheapest oils and put in your car. A different brand every time and who's to say the kid fresh out of high school is looking at the 0W-20 on the cap and he puts 10W-30 in? Hell with that one brand of oil and one weight for me, and to ensure this I do it my self. Plus saving $10-15 bucks makes ever 3rd change free.just my .02

Agreed, that's what I was thinking as well.
I would never use one of those quickie assembly line oil change places. There's just too much opportunity and incentive for fraud and incompetence. Aside from intentional fraud, you are also subject to minimum wage dropouts who don't know a valve cover from a vacuum cleaner. If I can't do it myself I take it to a locally owned repair shop where I personally know the techs.
Back in 2009 there was a report on the news. They had hidden cameras. Caught a bunch of stores getting paid for services and not doing them.
The quick lube industry took a 40% hit for a few months in Atlanta. Hitting the wallet is the only thing that gets owner's attention. And most of the owners in Atlanta are absentee. They live in Florida or the Carolinas. At least the one's I know.
You should also watch that they actually change the oil filter. The company I used to work for used quick lube places for all the vehicles and I ended up having mark all the filters to ensure they were being changed. Turns out they were just wiping them off and leaving them. Not cool.
