I'd have to say a 10/22 target model.
as a 1 gun stand alone rifle it would be my 22year old marlin model 60 semi auto .22lr and a bunch of ammo.
2. if it was a handgun rifle combo i would go with a keltec PMR-30 .22wmr, and a matching .22wmr rifle with a scope. bunch of light ammo can do it all, and only one caliber to worry about in a SHTF cenario
the same could be done with a .357 revolver and the ruger .357 rifle and take out any game that you want, but weight of the ammo is gonna be a lot more

I am going to have to be different. I am probably going to go with an Mosberg MVP in .223. It's a NATO round so you can probably pull it off some dead bodies. It will drop just about anything but a bear in the south east. The only downside is the weight and ammo carry. You're probably going to get about 1/2 as much as a 22lr.
100 rounds of 22 or 223 compared to 100 rounds of shotgun shells in your pocket ?
