Someone has approached me about buying a handgun. He is from Tennessee, but he has a son in Atlanta.

-Would I would be breaking the law selling to his son?
-Isn't this the definition of a "straw" purchase?
-Would a bill of sale signed by his son cover me?
-Do I need to do an FFL transfer to the son?

Any advice will be appreciated.

That's what I said. I told him that I will gladly hold onto the gun until he is back in GA and can show me a GADL. I was more curious of the legalities in transferring the gun to his son, considering the fact that I knew it was ultimately going to the father.

if you're dealing with the father locally and he agrees to provide his GA DL ftf, I say go for it. If he's in possession of his GA DL, he's still a resident of the State of Georgia Anything else that implies that the said firearm is being purchased to someone else is a huge RED flag; at least for me.

please be advised that IANAL and you shouldn't take this as a legal advice :)
