Outdoor Range

Look up chestnut mountain $5 per day $25 annual only down side is its busy on Saturday and closed Sunday, I get there early on Saturday shoot for about 2 Hours and leave when it gets busy

Hey y'all. I'm having more and more trouble tolerating indoor shooting. I'm in Kennesaw. I've heard mixed reviews about the DNR/WMA ranges. Other than the super expensive River Bend, anyone have any experience with the WMA ranges or know of anywhere I could shoot outdoors?

I am currently a member at Georgia Firing Line in Canton, but the concussion and the fumes are getting to me.

Any ideas or recommendations?
Check out Chestnut Mountain Shooting Range up by Calhoun. It's only 62 miles from me in Cobb
county. They have a requirement to have proof that anyone using the range has completed a range
safety course and you have to pre-pay your range fees. Both of these need to be saved or printed before
you drive to the range because there is NO cell coverage at the range.

I went on a Tuesday. Not crowded at all. Also, there was no RSO onsite. Nobody to check my pre-payed
fees or my completion certificate of the safety course. I cannot guarantee you won't see a range officer
but better to be safe than sorry. Complete the course. Print your completion doc. Pay your range fee and
save a copy of your receipt. Enjoy. Stay safe.

Chestnut Mountain often called Jhons Mountain (no machine guns) has always been self policed in a civilized manor when I have been. I have seen uniformed officers twice. Do the online course. Pistol and rifle up to 100yds.

I’m in Dallas myself and I choose to drive over to the Talladega CMP range when I want to sling some lead. It’s an awesome place and you wont be disappointed. Check it out. Pistol steel coarse, 100 yd video target, 200-600 yd video targets, unknown distance steer range for 50-640 yd i believe and shotgun ranges as well.
