So.. this is in effect actually added to the metal as opposed to being cut into the metal ? When I think of engraving, I think of the way my Browning 425 shotgun is engraved, the design is cut "into" the metal. It looks like this is (for lactk of a better term) printed on ?

I think the guy told me that it was .003 inches deep. It will never wear off. I'd have to sand it or file it off...and just thinking about taking a draw file to the side of my glock makes me want to puke.
