Pistols Cal .40 - Why They Are So Hated?

I jumped on board the .40 train.
I broke two Glocks with factory ammo.
The repair guys claimed I was using hot reloads..I wasn't.

I had s Sig 229 Sport that was freakishly accurate.. But was showing accelerated wear.

If you want one do it all caliber... .40 s&w can hang.

I dropped it when I realized I like the way my 9mm and .45acp shot better.

Ok I will tell you why people hate them, it’s because of the **** that they read on the Internet. It is a high pressure round that wears out recoil springs and barrels and such. But I don’t know anybody that has shot the barrel out of any gun. People complain about it being snappy recoil, I say man the hell up to that. I like all calibers.

That shouldn't be a problem on here,no has more than 20 rds down the pipe.

I'm with you.....you read or see all of the controversy. All calibers have the ups & downs. Plus if you have a G22 with a 9mm conversion barrel....you can shoot both calibers!!! And if you have something like a G32, you can have a .357sig, .40cal, and 9mm!!! It's like having a cake and ice cream at the same time....

I'm with you. I have three plus the other cal.and I would put them up against any . I mean hell you got 12+ 1 and really how many of the armchair ODT people have been in a shoot out? If you don't want your 40 ammo mark that trash down and cell it.

Yep I agree, but there is gonna be people that hate on every caliber. Just like in the rifle caliber people hate on .270 Winchester but I’ve had some good success with this caliber.

Because in the late 90’s there were about half a dozen .40 cal Glocks that grenaded and then all this internet outrage poured out about hot loads and unsupported chambers. It couldn’t possibly have been Glock Perfection so it was the round that had to be at fault...and just like that, the internet killed the .40!

I’ll drop my 2 cents on this subject....I bought my first handgun in 1972....what I THOUGHT to be a Smith & Wesson Mod 36 Detective Special turned out to be a Mod 10 (I believe) that used S&W .38 ammo instead of the "38 Special" (yeah, I was young, stupid and knew very little about guns)...that ammo was expensive and hard to find.

Fast forward to present day....most everything I own is 9 mm (along with a couple 380s the Mrs likes) because the ammo is cheap and plentiful (less than 20 cents a round) the guns are easily concealable and reasonably accurate even in MY hand. LOL

I would not be classified as a "hater" necessarily but simply don’t have an interest in the .40 cal (lower interest=lower resale/demand)....but if the ammo was cheaper maybe....
