  1. I let my supporter lapse because I didn’t notice when it expired. It’d be great to get an automated email 1 month out, then 1 week out, & last day. Or a notification bar like we get for other things that says, “supporter status expires in xx days. Renew now <link>.” Every other subscription does it, so I think more folks (myself included) would renew supporter status more regularly.
  2. I would definitely pay extra to get notifications of new listings with certain search criteria: Glock, 9mm, <$500, Metro Atlanta, etc.
  3. Also would pay extra to be able to search in a similar way with criteria.
  4. The tiered system might work as well. More perks at higher tiers.
  5. I think a total of 7 people know about the web store. If it’s profitable to offer ODT swag, push that more in the display ads or elsewhere.
  6. Biweekly/monthly newsletter with CTA for subscription/swag.
  7. Not sure if giveaway day is still a thing (I think ODT10 page said no), but if so, make it all supporter only.
Either way, would $1/month hurt the site? Probably. Should it? No.
Just a few thoughts.

Personally I think the idea of paying $1 for ads is a good idea , I post something’s on gunbroker that members here have no interest in and it costs far more than a dollar. This is by far one of the better sites on the internet . I was on the original site and also the GON site in 2007 and they weren’t near as good as this site has become since it was taken over and revamped. I’m in !!!!

I was here before it became the ODT, I gave Steve a hard time about generating a living off the site, when he first set up. I have never paid or supported it but I am not opposed to supporting a good cause. For instance, I just gave a fair amount of money to a friend's lodge because it is a good cause. While I don't have a problem supporting something, I do have a problem buying into something that you may get banned from or censored on, but at the same time, rules are necessary.

I don't buy a whole from here anymore. I never sell anything here and I don't know the last time that I traded. Most of what I buy is new, because if I am going to pay new or nearly new prices, I might as well get it from a reputable dealer. It surely cuts down on the aggravation like what I had a few weeks ago when I asked a fellow what he would take for a gun, he responded, I told him I would take it and then I didn't hear thing back from until he told me that he changed his mind because people were "bidding" on it and he could do better. I sure miss the days when "I'll take it" was as good as a hand shake, but alas, the quality of the membership is not the same. However, if paying a membership fee would bring that back, I would pay $50 a year..........

I will commend Steve on this, he has managed to keep it afloat longer than any other site of its kind.

I'd be willing to honestly say that I've been on this site every day since it started in 2010, no matter what my situation. I don't tweet, chat, or do wastebook so this site is my usual daily dose of the web. If it ended up costing me a little extra to help keep it going, that would be a no brainer for me. To each his or her own, but I hope that O does whatever it takes to keep it going, because I still enjoy it that much.

For 12 months. You could mail $1 every month if you wanted to I guess. Is the site that worthless? :D
If I were to voice an unfiltered opinion of anyone too cheap to pay a $1 per month to post their crap for sale on this site I'd get perma-ban hammered.

I'm coming up on my 7 year anniversary, don't remember when I became a supporter but I found out the little extras were worth it. This thread made me realize it had lapsed and I just renewed. I have always considered it a pay to play and help keep the lights on type fee. It is a small fee to pay for something that I utilize almost everyday of my life. If they can't pitch in a buck to help out then let em go somewheres else.

It's probably the beginning of the end and will likely snowball over time but if that's what it takes to stay afloat than so be it.
We'll probably be legislatied out of existence by then anyway.
