I think odt should charge a percentage of every transaction like visa and mastercard does. That will buy a ton of hookers.

My second observation, I didn't realize until reading this thread that there was an option to pay for a different membership type. Being an IT guy I realize this sort of thing is time consuming and in the spirit of fairness you should be paid so I'll become a supporter officially. I think though as part of the small rolling ads that do exist here you should be running an ODT membership ad to get some visibility to the supporter option as I for one had no clue it existed and would have been most happy to support the awesome ODT site.

It turns a lot of people off, and the site suffers because it's reputation of being a good place to get good deals, has become a place to go and pay more than retail for used guns.

I don't care what argument you make, that isn't good for the site and it doesn't make it better.

Yeah, when I get catalogs from mail-order places that charge full MSRP for their merchandise, I throw them away without a glance. If ODT's classified section only rarely had good deals, and had a lot of overpriced stuff or junk I wouldn't want at any price, I would not even bother browsing any of the ads in any part of the classifieds.
Good deals = more traffic here, more people with positive feelings about ODT and will recommend it to friends.
Few or NO good deals here = people browse for a few minutes and leave, and don't come back.
At least not for buy/sell/trade purposes. They might come back to talk gun control, politics, caliber debates, best round for hunting X animal in Y terrain from Z distance...
