I know some people like to think that but in reality no one is close to us in GA aside from armslist and gunbroker/other auction sites.

Not for now. But there are at least 2 others that will grow if people start looking. I think you would push people to start looking around. All I'm saying there.

The $1 per month is not the problem. The amount of money is insignificant.

I think a big turn-off to many people would be the inherent risk of paying for anything online and having yet another site with your credit card or banking info.
It's the loss of privacy and anonymity.

And don't tell me that PayPal is secure. PayPal is evil run by Big Brother lefties and is anti-gun. They forbid the use of their system for any gun related transactions. I'll build my own gun out of plumbing pipe and duct tape before I buy one through the use of a PayPal account.

I would suggest that if you're going to go with a pay-to-post-ads system, that you allow people to send in cash or money orders to a PO Box so that you could receive the money anonymously, associated only with the screen name not a real name.

I have some questions:

If paying the price would the ad still be policed by:
More than 5 posts unrelated gets it locked
Language filtering
Low resolution photos
5 photo limit

How would this implicate you legally in the sale of items if you are charging a fee?

I also think it would limit a lot of folks from posting items for sale, thus limiting our exposure to $700 Glocks.............

Lifetime supporter here, I have made money here and have bought sold and traded for guns I’d never been able to handle.
It’s worth 10.00 per year, if you can’t pay 1.00 per month. Is your crap worth listing?

Btw Okuma would love to see a lifetime supporter banner so people know who’s really here for the betterment of the community not just out for themselves.

I would definitely rather have ads than have a subscription based pricing model. I feel a lot of the people that post unique and somewhat rare items for sale would not be willing to pay as they post so infrequently. I would not mind paying myself since I post more than others. Maybe we should restrict the number of posts you can have running and make it where you have to pay to post say more than 3 at one time. That would supply additional not take away from the classified section as much. Just my two cents.

A lot of people are running a business from here and a few dollars shouldn't hurt them.

Close - the idea was that you could do the classfieds only subscription for $10/year with no other supporter benefits. Currently a 1 year supporter subscription is $15/year which under this plan would include the classfieds and also includes the feed, fewer ads, custom user titles, etc.

Ya ,I paid that .No supporters badge needed. Just don't want/need added tax to cell.

OS, I remember you once stated that supporter funds were no longer needed and unnecessary, overall, so I stopped supporting. If you did not need it, then I did not see the point, but since things have changed I will gladly renew my supporter status to support this site. I love this place and have had almost nothing but great experiences here.

Another option -

Keep Supporter at same cost, same perks.

Offer GOLD LEVEL supporter at say $20 or 25 a year, which also allows repost of an Item every 24 hours.

And, offer a "Trader" Banner option, that allows repost every 24 hours, no other perks, at 12-15/year.

Personally, as another Member stated, I get WAY more hits and sales in the 1st day of a Posting, so to have a 24 hour repost would be a boon to me.
