I didn’t even bash a price. I stated what happened to me when dealing with a certain company when they were posting under a private account and not a dealer listing. My comment along with another persons was deleted and we were given warnings. Who peed in your Cheerios this morning?Where in the world did you come up with that? If you're going to complain about site rules, fine, but at least actually know what the rules you're complaining about are.
You don't need to censor anything. Type it out, and if theres a word on the censored list, the software will do it for you. Asshole isn't on the list, so it isn't censored. **** is on the list, so it's censored.
The rules on comments that are allowed in someone's classifieds ad aren't to change regardless of whether or not the subscription thing happens. Everyone here is allowed to ask whatever price they want for their items. If it's overpriced it won't sell and that's the sellers problem, not anyone elses. There is no scenario that involves bashing someone's price in their ad ever being tolerated.
How can it go downhill for that reason when it was one of the very first rules we ever had?The site is already going downhill, outrageous that you cannot make a comment about an inflated price
No one said traffic is down, traffic is up. We have more traffic than I know what to do with, we could support 100 preferred level sponsors and deliver on every metric that I guarantee.Generally speaking advertisers want traffic so the ads can be seen. I might be out of touch here with this comment but why don’t you look at why traffic is down.
Never.Does the ODT sell our information like FB and others? If not then my position is Supporter status to post ads seems only fair.
It's just the "Best Georgia Trading Forum," no extra qualifier needed.“Best paid Georgia trading forum” doesn’t have the same ring as “best free Georgia trading forum” sorry

Just to clarify it's $1 a month and not $1 an ad.I take advantage of featured listings occasionally. I like that feature and don’t mind paying a small fee for the visibility on my ad.
$1 per ad would be ok with me, I just don’t want to pay to goof around browsing if I choose not to list anything for a while.
However, if you charge $1 per as you’re going to get those people who list a whole collection in one ad. I can’t be alone in hating those ads.
If they break the rules I ban them. I don't give anyone special treatment. If they want a refund I'll gladly give them one.Actually you’ve kinda made a good point. How do you recocile banning members from the forum that they pay to utilize. If I pay my money to run my ad for a month I should have access to my ad/PM system regardless of my other forum doings. Seeing someone like you who post a lot of ads and gets banned on the regular wouldn’t exactly instill confidence for new users.
Did you read the first post at all?If you're already a supporter....why pay more? For the freebie cheapest. Sure let them pay monthly per list or whatever.
But if you're already a supporter....then we shouldn't pay. If you make supporters pay...then refund all pur supporter funds
Nothing changes for supporters.PayPal?I dont post anything for sale, but,if I did I dont do credit cards or anything of that sort. How would a person pay that money if they were like me and wanted to cell something?
In an effort to get away from outside advertising (and to stay afloat) I'm having to consider some very major changes to how the site raises money. In the past I've relied very heavily on outside ad networks to supply our ads to us, but in the last year the landscape has changed and a lot of gun forums are having a very rough go of it, including us.
One idea I am seriously considering is charging $1 a month to post ads in the classifieds for non-supporters and leave it free for supporters.
So for $1 a month you could post 5 listings per category per day (Just like it is now). Would also offer it for $10 a year if you didn't want to become a supporter and just wanted the classifieds, which would make it an even cheaper $0.83 per month.
Do you think this would kill the site? My opinion has always been that charging money would kill the site, but I feel like $1 a month for non-supporters is cheap enough that people wouldn't leave over it. If this change was enacted and we didn't lose any traffic I would be able to shut off outside ads. (which would be amazing and make the site run faster, we would never have malware or popups again and could remove all outside ad tracking)
I'd love to hear everyone's opinions, especially non-supporters. Any posts that "supporter shame" anyone will be removed to keep this on topic.
Thanks!
